If you know me you know I love film photography. I know I always say it, but it produces the most beautiful photos and it makes me fall in love with photography all over again when I get my film scans back. It’s so fun working with clients that really appreciate film. When Emily contacted me about photographing her wedding she mentioned using her grandpas old Nikon film camera when she was younger and loved the idea of using film at her wedding. She mentioned it is a dying art and I agree. Most people just shoot digital now because of the easiness of it, but the beauty of film (in my opinion) can’t be matched in digital. Digital, of course, has many benefits like it’s fast, forgiving, memory is cheap, and you see the results right away. For large groups shots, I will definitely be going some rapid fire on my digital. That is a risk with film but the beauty of it outweighs the risk for me. I still shoot both digital and film at each session though so I get the benefits from both, and once I receive my film back from the lab I use that as an anchor to match my digital images to the film so that it all look cohesive. It’s been so fun incorporating film into my business, and I can totally see the pay off.
Emily and Andrew’s wedding was fantastic. Emily has 3 daughters from a previous marriage and she mentioned that she wanted lots of photos of them throughout the day. I was excited by this because I am always finding little kids at receptions and weddings to take pictures of. It’s one of my favorites parts. Emily and Andrew were very easy going, which makes the whole day so fun! They seem like they will be such a happy family and I’m so excited for them. P.s. Their send of photos is one of my favorites from this year!
Mix of film and digital images. All film images were shot on either the Pentax 645n or Canon 1n with Kodak Portra 400 film and developed at The FIND Lab.
