I am so honored I got to do these family pictures. I do photography for Kim’s clothing shop, Simply Fate. Check out her website because she has some awesome stuff on there. My wife loves when I photograph for them because she finds a handful of new shirts and dressed she wants. She always jokes that I do those photo shoots just for her so can get more clothes, since the money I make she turns around and wants to buy all the models clothes with.

Kim told me a while back that her father was ill and not doing great. So when she contacted me a while back about taking pictures of her family, my heart went out to them. This photo shoot pulled at my heart strings big time. Kim is very close to her dad, and I could tell that her whole family had a special connection to him. I’m so grateful I got to capture these moments with him and his loved ones. There was a moment in the shoot that the dad started crying and it made everyone emotional. I know that even though it was hard to get him outside and ready for family pictures that these will be cherished for a long time to come. Take the time to get family pictures! It will be so worth the effort, I promise! Kim wrote me after and told me how special these photos were to them, which was so nice to hear! I love my job!

Mix of film and digital images. All film images were shot on a Pentax 645n medium format film camera with Kodak Portra 400 film and developed at The FIND Lab.
