Backyard weddings are some of my favorites kinds of weddings. They can have such a cozy and intimate feeling. Lauren contacted me a few weeks before her wedding because her original wedding photographer had something come up and had to cancel. Weddings can already be pretty stressful to plan so I’m sure having to worry about finding another photographer weeks before your wedding can be overwhelming. But I’m so glad though that she contacted me to photograph her wedding! Since it was so close to her wedding when she contacted me, I already had a trip planned with my best friend to go to Yellowstone (Check out the pictures from that trip here). It worked out that I was able to capture the ceremony and group shoots and had an associate photographer capture the reception portion of the night. They had lots of nice little touches throughout the yard, that made it really personal and very pretty. While editing the pictures I got jealous because it looked like I missed out on a pretty epic dance party. I love when everyone actually dances and enjoys themselves at a wedding. I know dancing is sometimes not peoples things, or they get nervous by me taking pictures of them getting their groove on, but I love when people just enjoy the moment and dance the night away.
It was also great that the family was able to utilize their time together and have their pastor bless Lauren’s niece. It was a special moment to witness and just added to the great day.
Mix of film and digital images. Film images were shot on either the Pentax 645n or Canon 1n with Kodak Portra 400 film and developed at The FIND Lab.
All reception photos are taken by Helena Taylor and edited by Casey of Casey James Photography.
