Jen and I work together at my day job at Connections therapy. I am a SLP and she is an OT so it is great that we can collaborate with some clients that we share. Jen stated they have never had real family pictures done before, so I was so happy I got to capture these for them. I know hiring a professional photographer can slip through the cracks sometimes because it’s an expense you weren’t planning on, or you have a camera at home you can just snap some photos with, or maybe you can just have your friend take some for you. It makes sense, life gets crazy, there are so many other things you can spend your money on, but I promise you it is WORTH it! Having pictures of your family in these precious times is so special. As a professional photographer, I strive to get high-quality images you can look back at for a lifetime. I always get plenty of smiling group shots but I love capturing the in-between moments so you can remember the sweet interactions between you and your kiddos. I know a lot of the time parents stress before and during family pictures because they want their kids to behave so they get great pictures. Believe me, I fall into this when we do our family pictures each year also, but I have to remember as a photographer how much better the pictures will turn out if I’m not constantly getting mad at my kids to stand still and smile. I try really hard to not put too much pressure on the kids when I photograph to stand and smile, but more let them be themselves and have fun in between takes. This helps the kids relax and we end up getting the pictures we want plus a bonus of many fun interactive pictures throughout the shoot.
Kids grow up so fast. It’s so nice to be able to have the photos to remember how small they were, the admiration in their eyes when they look at you or in between their moments of fighting with each other, how sweet they were together and their bond. I strive to make each family session as pain-free and as fun as possible. The saying ” A picture is worth a thousand words” is so true. Find a photographer who’s style you love and do what you need to save and get real pictures done, I promise you won’t regret it!
