LDS Mission Family Pictures
This wonderful family here is Casey’s aunt and uncle. We don’t get to see them often so I was stoked when they contacted us about doing their family pictures. Their son Josh was just about to leave to go on an LDS mission to Russia, and with the age gap between their other kids, their missions will overlap and they won’t be all together again for a long time. It was really important to them to have a picture of them all together before they are not together again for a while.
I was happy we got to go to the shoot with him and get to spend some time with them since we don’t see them often. Of course, our daughter who has been potty trained a year and a half sweetened the visit by peeing on their driveway at the end of the night, which was embarrassing but they were so nice about it. They said that they have 9 kids, if there isn’t some kind of bodily fluid on a daily basis then it isn’t a normal day haha. It made me feel much better.
They have adopted 6 kids total. Adoption is such a beautiful process, and I love watching their family grow. They adopted 2 of their sons from the Democratic Republic of the Congo and right after the country put a suspension in place on exit letters, so all they could do was wait. Check out this video of them finally getting their sons to the US after waiting 3 years. This video went viral and for a good reason. You can see the excitement, joy, and relief they have to finally have their sons home.
One of their sons passed away a few years ago, and they hold that panda bear to represent him in the family photos. I love that they make sure to always still include him.
